
It may sound strange but you will know if you have fleas. If you see your pet biting their fur excessively then it is a pretty good indication that you have fleas. Another clue is you may notice fleabites on your arms and legs, yes; fleas will bite humans as well as pets. Fleas are small but they tend to reddish brown or they appear black, but you can see them. They jump from place to place very quickly so you will notice them right away.
Fleas are only about 1/16 to 1/8 or an inch. They don’t have any wings but they have long legs. Their bodies are agilely compressed so they have the ability to travel through skin and hair very quickly. If you suspect that your dog or cat has fleas, simple separate their fur and you should be able to find them. They stick close to the skin so they can bite the skin to get to the blood.
You may think that because the flea is so small that you can just crush them like bugs but they are not that easy to get rid of. There are many ways to get rid of fleas, you can bathe your dog or cat with a special flea shampoo, fleas hate water, and another way is to burn them with a match just like you would a tick. You can also catch them by using adhesive tape and then simply throw the strip of tape away.
Fleas have a three cycle stages, they are larva, then pupas and then the imago, which are adult fleas. When the imagoes lay their eggs it only takes about 2 weeks for them to hatch. They will lay their eggs in the pets fur and they will lay them in your pillows, furniture and anything else that is warm.
So you have to make sure that when you get rod of them that you take additional steps to vacuum or flea bomb the entire house, you don’t want the eggs to hatch. Now that you know what the fleas look like and where they like migrate, it may be easier for you to be able to get rid of them all at once. Make sure when you decide to take care of the problem that you take care of the problem on the pets and in the house. Doing them separately would be a complete waste of time.
